How to Install Extra Options (winmm.dll) on Azimuth 0.9.10

Install the new FH2 Extra Options mod using winmm.dll on Azimuth 0.9.10. Learn the correct file location, INI settings, controls, and common fixes.

By Refil10/20/2026

Extra Options by RokkuDayo adds quality-of-life features and customization to Forza Horizon 2 (Xbox One) running on PC through Azimuth. The newer builds use `winmm.dll` rather than the older Azimuth data/bin installation method.

Important: This guide covers the newer Extra Options v0.2.88+ installation layout for Azimuth 0.9.10. Do not follow old tutorials telling you to copy azimuth-tls.dll into data/bin or launch the game through FH2_DLC_Launcher.exe. Those are not the current instructions for this build.

Requirements

•Azimuth 0.9.10 installed and working with your own Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2 (1.0.0.64).

•The current Extra Options release from its official GitHub repository.

•An archive extractor such as Windows Explorer or 7-Zip.

•A backup of your existing Azimuth installation, especially its data folder (saves and configuration).

Security warning from the developer: Fake "all-in-one" FH2 installers and tutorials have been used to spread a keylogger. Never run a pasted PowerShell command from an unknown FH2 installation guide. Download only from the creator's official repository. See the official safety warning.

Step 1 — Update Azimuth first

1. Download Azimuth from the official itch.io page.

2. Confirm that you are running Azimuth 0.9.10. The new Extra Options loader may not work with older versions such as 0.9.9 or 0.9.7.

3. Launch Forza Horizon 2 without Extra Options once and make sure the game itself works.

4. Close both the game and launcher before installing the mod.

Step 2 — Download Extra Options

1. Open the developer's GitHub Releases page.

2. Download the current release archive provided by RokkuDayo.

3. Open the archive and locate the folder named `Azimuth`. Do not use the separate Mezcal folder.

4. In the newer release package, the Azimuth content includes the loader `winmm.dll`, `FH2_ExtraOptions.ini`, `Gamerpic.png`, and possibly a `data` folder. Extract the complete contents of the Azimuth folder, preserving their structure.

Step 3 — Put the files in the CORRECT folder

Open the folder where `azimuth.exe` is located. This is the main Azimuth directory.

Copy the contents of the release archive's Azimuth folder directly into that directory. Do not create an extra nested `Azimuth` folder around those files.

The result should look similar to this:

text

Azimuth/
├── azimuth.exe
├── winmm.dll
├── FH2_ExtraOptions.ini
├── Gamerpic.png
├── data/
│ └── [Azimuth files + files supplied by the mod]
└── [other original Azimuth files]
Correct: Azimuth/winmm.dll, next to azimuth.exe. Wrong for the new build: Azimuth/data/bin/winmm.dll or Forza Horizon 2/Mount/winmm.dll.

If Windows asks about merging the data folder, merge it without deleting your existing files. Back up any files you will replace. Never delete the whole existing data directory: it may contain your saves and launcher settings.

Step 4 — Remove remnants from older Extra Options versions

If you previously installed an older Extra Options build, old injection files can interfere with the new one.

•Back up your current Azimuth setup first.

•Check the old data/bin location for Extra Options-specific files, such as an old azimuth-tls.dll installed by the old mod.

•Remove only files you have positively identified as belonging to the old Extra Options installation. Do not delete original Azimuth files, save folders, or DLLs used by another mod.

•Do not mix the old launcher/DLL installation method with the new winmm.dll package.

If you are unsure who owns a DLL, leave it in place and ask for help with the exact directory listing before removing anything.

Step 5 — Launch and confirm it works

1. Start `azimuth.exe` normally.

2. Launch Forza Horizon 2 as usual.

3. Check the game's native menus, especially Settings / HUD / camera options, for new Extra Options features.

4. Test a simple, visible feature: the FOV sliders or the Drift Camera setting in the HUD menu.

5. If present, the Autodrive control is F2 on a keyboard or D-Pad Down on a controller.

The mod is loaded automatically through `winmm.dll`. You do not need to launch a separate mod manager or manually inject a DLL.

Useful features and controls

•Change car anywhere and additional quality-of-life options.

•FOV sliders for camera types; Drift Camera in the HUD settings.

•Autodrive: press F2 or controller D-Pad Down.

•Vehicle lights: click the controller's right stick.

•Hazard lights: tap D-Pad Up.

•Turn signals: hold D-Pad Left / Right for about one second.

•Convertible roof: while stationary, hold the right stick for around three seconds on a supported car.

•Extra photo-mode, wheel, minimap, livery, and other enhancements.

Some features depend on the car model or game state. A few roof and indicator animations can look incorrect; that is a known limitation of certain cars.

Optional — Edit the INI configuration

Open `FH2_ExtraOptions.ini` in a text editor. Change only settings you understand and keep a backup of the original file.

One example confirmed by the developer is the Treasure Map switch. It is disabled by default; set the existing `UnlockTreasureMap` option to 1 only if you want that particular feature.

For features exposed in FH2's menus, prefer the in-game toggles rather than editing configuration files unnecessarily.

Troubleshooting

Extra Options does not load at all

•Check Azimuth is really 0.9.10 and your Extra Options release supports it.

•Check that winmm.dll is next to `azimuth.exe`.

•Make sure you extracted the files from the archive's `Azimuth` directory, not `Mezcal`.

•Look for an `FH2_ExtraOptions.log` file from your installation and review any loader or version errors.

•If you upgraded from an old release, check for leftover Extra Options files from the old data/bin installation.

The game launches but no new settings appear

•Test FOV or HUD settings instead of using VIP/DLC availability as your only sign that the mod loaded.

•Reconfirm the Azimuth build. In an October 17 troubleshooting thread, a user fixed a failure by updating to 0.9.10.

•Test temporarily without other wrapper/injection mods if you suspect a conflict.

ReShade or another DLL-based mod is installed

The new loader uses `winmm.dll`, while ReShade usually installs a separate DirectX proxy. They can coexist in some setups, but compatibility is not guaranteed. Do not rename, overwrite, or chain-load DLLs blindly. When investigating a startup problem, make a backup and test one mod at a time.

Steam Deck / Linux / Wine

Wine users may need to tell Wine to load the local winmm.dll first. The developer documents this launch option:

text

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm.dll=n,b" %command%

Use it as the launch option for Azimuth in Steam, not as an arbitrary shell script downloaded from the internet. A developer support discussion also reports some Steam Deck setups working with the shorter override WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b". Linux compatibility can depend on how Azimuth is launched.

Updating or uninstalling

•Update: close the game, back up your configuration, then replace the files belonging to Extra Options with the newer `Azimuth` release contents. Read release notes before upgrading.

•Uninstall: remove only the files added by Extra Options (including its local winmm.dll and specific Extra Options config or assets) after verifying they belong to this mod. Preserve your original Azimuth data directory and saves.

TL;DR: Azimuth 0.9.10 + the latest Extra Options `Azimuth` package + `winmm.dll` alongside `azimuth.exe`. Keep your saves, launch normally, and configure features through the game's menus.
